If you have always wanted to make your very own kimono, this workshop is for you.
Good sewing skills needed
I have always been a big fan of kimonos and it was about time to design my own.
This one is unlined, has an under arm opening and long open sleeves.
I love the way a kimono fall on a body, and I love the apparent simplicity if it.
While researching to develop this pattern, I have been so amazed at the construction of kimonos.
Kimonos are traditionally made of strips of fabric, using all the width of Japanese cloth, which means there is very little waste when cutting.
This kimono has been design to fit both in Japanese width fabric as well as standard width fabric as I wanted to stick to the traditional way. But fabric can be expensive so be mindful that making the long kimono in 0.35m wide fabric can be very costly.
It comes in three lengths, long, medium and short.
A traditional kimono cut on a Japanese width cloth usually fits nicely a size 10 to 14
I have made it in three sizes to try to fit a wider range of bodies.
The fabric is not provided in this workshop
See below the sizing chart & the fabric requirement per size.
